Description
These colorants are highly concentrated pigments designed for coloring liquid epoxies, urethanes, and other resin systems. They provide excellent dispersion, stability, and consistency, allowing for a wide range of vibrant hues with minimal product use.
UVO™ UV-Resistant Pigments designed for Urethane and Epoxy are concentrated, phthalate-free color pigments that withstand ultraviolet light. When a small quantity of UVO™ is added to a Smooth-On epoxy, urethane rubber, plastic, or foam product, these pigment dispersions produce opaque castings, unlike SO-Strong™ color tints, which can result in translucent urethane castings.
Coloring resin to resist fading and yellowing from sunlight and other ultraviolet light sources is a challenge for anyone who makes signage, themed environments, or art-related elements. UVO® pigments are designed to address these challenges and produce castings and coatings that do not require labor-intensive priming and painting.
- High pigment strength: Only a small amount is needed for intense, even coloration.
- Recommended loading range: 0.01% to 3% of total system weight, based on desired color intensity.
- Color effects: More colorant results in deeper saturation.
- Mixability: Engineered for excellent mixability and minimal settling, ensuring smooth, uniform color distribution.
Overloading can interfere with curing, causing tackiness or oozing. Proper testing and measurement are crucial. Beginners should experiment with a few drops in a small sample batch to observe color development after curing.
Color results may vary depending on the UV stability of the specific epoxy or urethane used. These colorants are suitable for artistic, industrial, or prototyping applications, offering long-lasting, vivid coloration with outstanding performance and versatility.
Instructions
Stir or shake each pigment thoroughly before use to ensure uniform color. Add small amounts of pigment to the base material and mix completely until the color is evenly dispersed. Gradually increase pigment concentration as needed to achieve the desired shade, avoiding over-pigmentation.
Always test the color on a small sample and allow it to cure fully, as color may change slightly after curing. Use consistent measuring methods for repeatable results. Keep containers tightly closed when not in use and store at room temperature away from direct sunlight.
